Who am I? Husband to Judy, father to Todd and Kim and Grampa to a bunch of very neat kids.

Judy and I retired to Montana ten years ago and, of course, things don’t always go as planned so here we are on the Oregon Coast. I was born in Santa Cruz, California so returning to the beach has been an easy transition and while it rains a lot (a LOT) we do enjoy not having to fight snow and black ice every winter.

I bought my first “real” camera, a Nikon F, in 1971, to photograph my children. A few years later, I was teaching teachers how to use photography in their classrooms. I burned out on cameras after a while and took a break from it for about 15 years. When digital cameras became popular, I bought an early model and began to really enjoy photography again.

Thanks to my old friend, Jim Brick (Brooks Institute of Photography grad and tech wizard) and my wondrous daughter, I’m using very good equipment: Canon camera, Mac computer, and Lightroom 4. The problem with having good equipment is you have zero excuses for your product.

I’m afraid I don’t have a grand philosophy driving my photography, I just do it because I love doing it! I like the light and what it does to whatever I see.
